Okay I got tagged---so now I'm "IT"

My blogging buddy Wayne tagged me, and I don't wish to be a drag on the party, so will play the game----

First I gotta give ya the rules of the game and they are as follows. (don't get tensed up, the rules are simple and easy to follow)

1. Identify the party that tagged you, and leave a link to their blog page, and before you post your response, post these rules on your blog . (what?? you don't know how to create a link? let me know will try and teach ya how to do that)

2. Now share seven (7) random/weird facts about yourself.

3. Tag seven (7) others, and create links to each of their blogs

4. Now having complied with the three rules up above, your almost done, all thats left to be done is to go to each of the persons you tagged, and alert them that you have tagged them by leaving a comment on their blogs.

(okay I have identified who tagged me, made a link to his page, so now I gotta put up seven wierd facts about myself----hmm this could take some time---I need a few people---actually what I need is a beer----BRB)   okaaaay here we go-----

1. I get uptight with people who ask me for my opinion of something and then after I give it,
proceed to disagree with me, and argue about it.

2. Start cooking something only to find I don't have all the ingredients necessary to finish the
job. (in my case like Denny Crane---I blame it on the "mad cow")

3.  I have a propensity to view both sides of a given topic, that is to weigh the pros and cons, and in doing so end up unable to state with any sincerity my own opinions---which I think makes me come off as being a person without convictions.-----a neutral nebisher (bah humbug)

4.  I like parties, but hate crowds

5.  I like feeling my life is moving to accomplish whatever goals I have in mind---and thusly I get very uptight when I find myself faced with indecisive moments, example, right now know I will be moving in the monthes ahead, but at this point in time, do not know where, do not know what to keep, or sell or give away, and the clock is ticking------(but I know in time this will ultimately come to a conclusion----eventurally, but til then---yuk!!

6.  It irritates the hell out of me hearing advertisments promoting this is or that credit card telling you the more you spend the more you save --(for each 100 dollars you charge we will give you 2.00 back or similiar fuzzy thinking)

7.  I am not a good listener---people start to talk, and even before they are finished my mind had leaped ahead and I interrupt them with my response before they finish, only to find had I waited and listened properly that my response was incorrect, or at best merely underlining what they were saying all along.  A most annoying trait I have been unable to break.

Alright, enough about this old dude-----so who am I going to tag?? (hey where did everyone go??), and the winners are:  hmmm, I think I will not tag anyone---but (big grin on my face) anybody wanna volunteer?   I double dare ya ! (lol)

Tonights dinner menu will NOT be Red beans with Rice casserole---

Hi sportsfans, old dude checking in here, with an update on tonights dinner menu.  It had been planned to be a Casserole made with redbeansW/rice, and browned hamburger---but due to the ineptness of the cook, the hamburger did not get defrosted in time.  (I had a long talk with the chef about that----(sigh), and I think he now understands he must pay more attention to details, no excuses allowed..  Anyway after he got done sulking about that, a new menu was put in place.

So in lieu of the above planned dinner, tonight we will feast on a nice macaroni and cheese casserole and a tossed salad. and maybe tomorrow night we will go for the redbeans, hamburger, rice topped with extra sharp cheddar cheese.----unless the cook screws up again that is.

Had coffee with friends this morning, and made a trip to the library to renew some books I had yet to finish reading. (am into the works by Christopher Reich).  Lots of international spy intrigue----good escapist fare.  Tonight of course will be watching "Chuck" and "Boston Legal"----I like a certain amount of absurdity in my intertainment.  Neither of these two programs require any deep thought on my part, yet they amuse me.

Tuesday, (thats tomorrow right?) I must remember to pick up my dry cleaning, outherwise will have to stay home on thanksgiving, which will lead to my demise as my family would kill me if I don't show up.---and then on Wednesday I have a meeting with the Lawyers---thats gotta be a real nerve-wrack.----anyway thats as far into the future that I can plan at the moment.
(dear readers, thanks for all the kind words, cards and blog comments--Like Dana says on her blogs, you CAN meet good people via the internet.

FLY DUMBO FLY----nooooo wait!!!

Having just made a post of the oldest still useful item in the house, my mind has kinda lingered on that "Starving Student" era of my life, and my mind set during those days, and comparing it with the mind set of the last 20 years of my life, and then looking forward to the future, and attempting to bring to focus how my life might go---in that suddenly I find myself being once again a solitary man.

It strikes me that in the last couple of weeks since LP's passing on, that I have to come to grips with the fact that every minute of everyday is all mine to use, I can come and go as the mood strikes, meal times are whenever and wherever I care to make them----it, at the moment anyway, boggling my mind---don't laugh, but I kinda am identifying with that baby bird standing bravely at the edge of his nest, flapping my wings----but not sure yet.!! (lol)

Time will of course resolve all the many questions that I am now having to deal with, Keep this, dispose of that, move---and if so where, what is affordable, etc, etc, etc.----and of course the overall overiding question----what do I want to do with the rest of my life?? I have no definitive answers at this moment---the old dude's mind is truly Boggled---I need more data, need lots and lots of data---knowledge is power----(sigh).

FLY DUMBO FLY!!

STILL USEFUL AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

A few days ago one of my friends here in the bloggosphere posted a article with a picture of something that they had had for a good number of years and still had on display in their home today, and kinda issued a challenge to others to post about the oldest thing in their houses that were still in use. This is my reply to the challenge.---

The year was 1956, September to be more exact.  It was during my "Starving Student" period.  I was a Sophmore at the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado (Go Buffs!!).  I and a friend of mine, who I had met the year before when we both lived in the on campus Dorm Houseing, had opted to rent an apartment and live off campus (this showed how daring and sophisticated we were).  In anycase we needed to furnish the place and make it compatible to our needs, mainly build a desk, put some posters on the wall for ambiance etc.

The desk we constructed was made from a plain panel door, with four study metal legs on the four corners, to allow it to be desk height, One side of the desk was my area, the other half was my roomates. in the center of this (mentally picture the dividing line between the two halves, we decided we could make use of a place to keep all the various writing emplements students use, pencils, pens, erasers, rulers, paperclips etc, etc, etc., and so we went out looking for something to put all that crap in to sit on the desk.

In our search we found a hole in the wall 'antique' (aka junk) store, and in that store for the PHEEnomenal price of $1.00 (an outragous waste of money by a starving student) we acquired the needed accommodation to our desk/study station., a large china bowl-----the rest as they say is history.

Here is a pic of that very same bowl, as it currently is displayed in my house today (2008), you may have to enlarge the pic, but there it is on the top shelf on the right hand side---
To give you a better perspective of what this little pot looks like, here is a close up (as you can see its full of potpourri at the moment)---
, so-o-o-o thats the oldest thing I have had for some lengthy period of time, and still make use of.  I look forward to reading what others might post.

Wednesday 11/19/08---in summary

On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, I would give today a 4. The weather was most excellent, the temp in the mid 80's, clear and sunny. My garden crew was here early and did their mow and blow thing, and put out my trash cans for pickup. I had my morning coffee and the last of Tish's great muffins on the patio for breakfast.

Later I went out and got my haircut for Thanksgiving, should look great in a week, (won't have that raw fresh cut look to it). I re-discovered the big stereo console in the living room and have found a nice radio station playing my music of the 60's and 70's, bringing back a rush of my single bar hopping days , ----what a wild era that was.

Tonight I will have a thick sliced ham steak dinner, with mashed potatoes, and corn---and will watch the last six episodes of "Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia" (Season 1&2 on disc from Netflix---3hrs running time)---no commercials, no interruptions---and what the heck will have a package of jolly time popcorn to go with it.

Tomorrow is "Fluff n Fold" time-----(sigh)(lol)

The Sun Sinks In The West---again

I have no idea why I titled this post as I have---me thinks it has to do with my acknowledging my place in the scheme of things----kinda reminding me that I am just here temporarily---and life goes on, whether I want it to or not---watching the sun set, signifying the end of yet another day, in spite of me and my doings---well keeps a guy kinda humble ya know what I mean?

The sun sinking in the west does make the question of what will I cook for dinner a bit more important, kinda running outta time on answering that question---yeah, yeah I know its fashionable to eat late----but I hate waking up with heartburn caused by eating late and going to bed to soon afterwards. Okay, with my back to the wall and not feeling all that industrious, I have decided tonight's gourmet selection will be ---(wait for it)-----(insert trumpet fanfare here )---Spaghetti with Classico Florentine Spinach & Cheese sauce-----wow, gone!!, my headache is gone!! (meal planning can really put the pressure on a guy)

Tonight's movie will be the old classic "Pajama Game", with John Rait and Doris Day and Eddie Foy Jr.

Motivated Reader's Meme

Most adults do take time from time to time to read. SOME actually spend more time reading than they do watching Television. (a great collective gasp from the audience ) In anycase here is a fun little Meme for those that are readers. Those of you who wish to take the time to do the Meme thing and post your answers on your own blogs are welcome. (just leave a comment that YOUR answers are posted on your blog page .

(For your edification and ease of reading I have put the Meme questions in BOLD face type my innane answers in standard typeface.)

The Questions

1. What is the Last book you purchased?

2. What book (or books) have you read MORE than once?

3. Has a book ever fundamentally changed the way you see life? (if yes what was

it?

4. How do you choose what book to read, by its cover, by author, by title, or just what?

5. Do you prefer Fiction or Non-Fiction?

6. What is more important, beautiful writing, or a gripping plot line?

7. What is the most memorable Character from a book?

8. What book, (or books) are you currently reading?

9. What was the last book you finished reading, and when was it?

10. Have you ever started a book but then gave up on it halfway through it? (if Yes

what was its title?)

MY ANSWERS

1. I can't actually remember the date I last purchased a book. I make full use of my local lending library, a habit I started at the age of 8, when I discovered I could actually own my own library card. To attempt to answer the question I would have to guess it was back in highscool, when I bought a racy Mickey Spillane paperback and snuck it into my room and kept hidden from my parents---(blush)

2. I have re-read a number of books, but the one book that flashed into my mind reading this question was, "Battle Cry" by Leon Uris. A book my older Brother gave me when I was about 10 years of age. The book describing in quite detailed and adult manner the experiences of a young man who joined the marines at the outbreak of WWII---which of course was exactly what my brother had done.

3. I guess a number of books have had things in them that stuck with me and in their own way have altered my view of life. I can not say with any real conviction a title of a single book that has affected me but---I would definitely say that thre writings of two authors pretty much are the basis of much of my likings of the world. Those two authors were , O. Henry, with his surprising plot twists, and Horation Alger, for all the optomistic stories of how hard work and perserverance reaped good rewards Between these two Authors I learned to look at all things from different perspections (not everything was necessarily as it appeard (o. henry), and a engrained assurance that if I worked hard enough, and long enough I would be rewarded---not to mention appreciating others who followed the same philosophy.

4.   I guess primarily I am drawn to a catchy title, but then there are other times, I limit my hunt for a good book to genre, mystery, sci-fiction, history, biographys etc.  I also prefer an author who had written more than one book, as I invariably check out 5-6 books at a time and I live finding a good fictional character whose adventures run over a whole series of volumes, and read then in sequence.

5.  No contest actually, I am a dyed in the wool "who done-it?" afficianado, so definitely love good imaginatve fiction.  but then there are those times---see anwer to question number 4 above.

6.  I like a book that grabs my attention in the first three or four pages and then has a tight convoluted plot that keeps me guessing til the very end.  Books with flowery prose and admiral usage of words and their meanings just don't hold my interest.  I will take Ian Flemming (author of the original seven James Bond Stories) over Shakespear).

7.  Good golly miss molly how to decide on which ONE---when there are so many?? Guess I would have to choose Nero Wolfe---in all the Rex Stout stories featuring Nero Wolfe, he was always  pictured in my mind as an encentric brilliant mind, who didn't suffer fools easily.

8.  Currently I am reading a book Titled, "Eden Burning", by Elizabeth Lowell---you all know how there are "chick flicks"?---well kinda would have to classify this book as a "Chick book"---but have invested to much time in reading it and I only got the last chapter to go, and the volcano is about to explode---).

9.  The very last book I finished , and before I started my current one (see question 8 above) was, another Elizabeth Lowell novel, titled "Amber Beach" and when I finish my current book I will start yet a third Elizabeth Lowell book titled, "Die In Plain Sight".  (which reminds me I need to go onlined with the Los Angeles Library system and renew the above books, they only allow two weeks now to read them once ya check them out., but you can renew them up to three times if necessary, this will only be my first time at renewing them)

10.  I have been "suckered" with fast paced synopsis on the fly leaf covers of any number of books only to find once into them that its really nothing substantial and I have without any remorse closed them and forgotten them and their authors---the one big (literally) novel that was on the NYC Best Seller list for many monthes , that I started to read with great curiosity which died a slow death, was "Hawaii" by James Mitchner----the Movie with Julie Andrews wasn't all that much better, but thats just this old dudes opinion.

Well there you have it----have fun with it.

Monday Monday

Man I loved the Mamma's N Pappa's vocal group-----. I was kinda between jobs when "Monday Monday was blasting the airwaves, recall I spend a goodly number of nights dallying at one of my local haunts, nursing one beer for a couple hours, and listening to that song, and kinda feeling sorry for myself---but then lucky guy that I am, I found a job and had to rejoin the human rat race----but that's a whole different story and is ancient history now. Today, this MONDAY, still smarting from the Plumbing bill, followed by the rotten time at my local supermarket, we (the LP and I that is), dared spit into the face of destiny and scheduled our annual furnace inspection. I am pleased to report we passed with no trouble----the guy even complimented us on how clean our furnace filter was (damn thing should be, I take it out and hose it clean every month)----anyway, as the sun slowly sinks in the west , as it is prone to do---and as the temperature outside falls below 75 degrees, the LP and I smile as the old furnace kicks on and warm air blows from the vents-----life is good.

Whats For Dinner?"

Here at Matilija House, the old dude (that's me) is making his popular beef stew. This recipe kinda evolved from my starving student days, when money was more myth than reality, so one learned how to stretch a food dollar.
It all began on a cold rainy day in Boulder, Colorado. If memory serves it was late in the month, on a Tuesday evening. I couldn't afford to go out with the guys for beer and pizza, but I was hungry, so like a flash of lightning the idea struck me, why not make beef stew, how hard could it be?? I hit the market and I got some beef, some carrots, some celery and some potatoes. (I even got change from the $5.oo bill I paid with. I guess I should tell ya this all happened way back in Oct, 1955.)
I wasn't totally sure, but I opted to brown the beef in a big iron 5qt pot, then I added all the other stuff, --yes I chopped it up first, added water and let it simmer. Lets just say this first attempt was nothing to write home about, and even now it embarrasses me to talk about it. Bad as my first attempt was, it made me all the more determined to get it right-----and so after getting over my first blah attempt, I snuck a few glances at beef stew recipes when I came across them---learned tomatoes are your friend, salt, pepper, learned how to brown my meat dredged in flour-----anyway today----my beef stew is pretty damn good---hell maybe even capable of winning a ribbon at a county fair. but (sigh) its still not as good as Mom made.

"A Red Dog Mood"

The TV Industry assumes nobody watches TV on Saturday nights, so there is nothing on except re-runs or infomercials (talking about broadcast TV, not the good stuff that one gets if one can afford cable or satellite feeds). I often wonder do people opt to go out on Saturday night because there is nothing on TV, or nothing on TV cause everyone goes out?? I think the networks are missing out on a good thing, by not putting good original programing on Saturday prime time-----especially now when times are getting tough and money tight and people ARE staying home more.
Last night (sat night), there being nothing on TV, we, (we being the LP and myself), watched a good old movie from Netflix, titled "Twins", with Danny Divito and Arnold Schwartznegger. A pleasant laughable plot, with no heavy messages or political themes. Makes me laugh just to think of those two actors playing the roles of being twin brothers.
Tonight being Sunday, we will once again endeavor to get interested in the on going soap operas , "Desperate Housewives" and "Brothers and Sisters". I for one am not enchanted with on going soap like plot lines continued from week to week. If one misses a week then the following shows become kinda silly and not worth watching. I much prefer shows that each segment stands on its own like a mini-movie. Unfortunately, that requires good writing, and it seems writers have priced themselves so high that the cost of putting on a well written show has become to risky, so the networks have gone to putting on "Reality" programming. Some people find reality programming entertaining. I find reality TV to much like watching strangers home movies of their last summer's vacation---forgettable.
Then too, even those good shows are hard to get to excited about, as they now pack in so many commercials, that the constant interruptions to the program keep a person from getting to involved in it. On the other hand if we didn't get all those commercials would anybody ever have told us about "Restless Leg Syndrome", or whatever disease of the week might be---I swear the pharmaceutical people invent pills, then spend zillions of dollars designing a ad campaigns to sell them-----wow can you imagine how much better off our country would be if we didn't have to deal with the scourge of "Restless leg syndrome"?? Pills to keep us awake, Pills to make us sleepy, Pills to keep us happy, -------I think I will go lay down and take one of those Lil blue pills, not sure what they are for, but hey---I'm feeling like an adventure.

Will Success Spoil GOG?

I know its poor form to go around bragging about one's self, but gosh darn I have spent five month's working on my blog here and well dag nab it, I'm a proud old blogger. Today, I was awarded page rank of 3 by Google. I know that's not all that high, but it just goes to show ya that my Lil blog is growing, that my "build it they will come" attitude is paying off. It may not seem like a big deal to some , but for me ---well its a RED LETTER day for GOOD OLD GARY (gog)---and I want everyone of my readers to stand up and take a bow , cause I couldn't have got this award with out your help, your patience and loyalty. Tuesday, Tuesday

Well in review of the programs we watched last night on the old Telly (Thats what they call a television set across the big pond). "The Big Bang" made me laugh several times with their witty repartee, "How I Met Your Mother" quite amusing. However I have to say the opening of the fall season show of "Two and A Half Men" didn't have the snappy dialog it has had in the past couple seasons---it might be that the kid has reached those awkward years when he is not cute and not adult either, so his lines are awkward in the scenes (I blame poor writing for this not the actor). I sat through"Worst Week"----and with luck the network will just pull this show off the air, tis truly bad. (bring back reruns of "Dennis the Menace" ).
Yesterday was Sept.22, and just happens to be the Anniversary of me and my signifcant other, The Little Prince (aka LP)---To celebrate our day, we ordered in (Chinese), and with our dinner we also totally consumed a very nice bottle of Pierre Jouet (gran brut) Champagne. (you won't find this sitting on the lower shelves of the wine dept, for this ya have to raise your eyes to the top shelf------I mention all this because by the time I had finished my Chicken Chow Mein, and consumed my half of the Champagne------I fell asleep just after the start of CSI Miami, and work up at the end-----the LP refuses to tell me what happened-----(sigh, much frustration).
Tonight, we are having the ever popular Marie Calendar BBQ chicken dinners, and I look forward to the opening show of NCIS---and the shows I mentioned in my previous posting. I will endeavor to stay the distance and report my opinions on them tomorrow----It finally dawned on me why the projected programing for Friday was so bleak----we have live intertainment in the form of the Presidential debates.

Labor Day 08

Here in Southern California our Labor day is blessed with sunshine, and lil white puffy clouds. To those that would be quick to complain about that (IE pessimists, and democrats) sorry, maybe you should trek on down to the gulf coast---and enjoy Gustav.
This seasoned veteran, having now observed no less than an even dozen Presidential campaigns, am totally charged up for this one in 2008. Holy smokes people, we got ourselves a race involving a blackman and a woman---the whole world is watching. How Racist is modern America-------how Sexist is the USA?? Then we got the whole shebang of liberal, versus conservative thinking on any number of major issues, such as Energy, Education, Economy.
However the nature of these political drives over the years has evolved into a circus of 30 second soundbites. We will get no detailed explainations of what the Candidates plans for the country really are. The Donks are against offshore drilling for example, their reasons for that being it will take 20 years before any significant oil can be brought to the refineries, and we need it now---I have no idea what they suggest we do that will give us relief from the independence on foreign oil we would liek to have.
The Donks loudly cry about all the things wrong with the country, you heard a long list of these complaints harped to death at their convention---and its healthy to have that kind of outlet for ones frustrations. Unfortunately after a brief time it becomes kinda depressing to hear somebody be so negative about their country. I noticed too that there was alot of positive buzz in the Donks convention, with chants of HILL-A-RIE! HILL-A-RIE!!, and for Obama ----notice howver the republican gatherings they were more prone to chant "USA!! USA!! USA!!", WHICH I find to be more positive.
The Liberals (aka progressives or Democrats) will make a big issue out of Gov. Sara Palin's lack of foreign Experience. I find that kinda amusing---considering the Donk's candidate doesn't have much experience in that arena either---oh wait he did go to Europe acouple weeks ago didn't he---I remember now, he was to busy doing photo opts with the leaders of France and Germany---he didn't have time to visit our wounded in the hospital there---(YA LOST MY VOTE RIGHT THERE KID).
I read and hear a lot of comments from the liberal Donks who blame everything negative on George Bush, call him cute lil names, but thats okay, its an election year---its just so appalling to see so much ignorance of the facts of how our government actually works. Its the Congress people, its the national legislature (the Senate and the House of Representatives) that enact all the laws, make the budgets---ask Senator Biden, he has been in the Legislature longer than any one individual has in the entire History of our Country-----now he's nominated by Obama to be his Vice President---the candidate of "Change"?? Seems to me on the other Party , with the nomination of a women to be Vice President----nows THERE is some real refreshing "change" being offerred to the voting public. A real modern woman who is the mother of 5 children, who has worked her way up through the ranks and now nominated as Vice President of the Entire Country---she sure aint no clone of "Hillary" Gov. Palin not only talks the talk, she walks the walk----. I surely believe that "Reaganism" is alive and well in the Repulican Party and its time this country started being Proud---I'm Tired of the liberals putting our country down----.

Another Moment IN Time

As the sun slowly sinks in the west (yet again), it occurs to me come the dawn that tomorrow will be the 27th of the Month.----and no way I can pretend I am surprised, have seen it coming for weeks--tomorrow I get to go to the Medical Hospital (A major hospital which will go unnamed) and get a "Bone Density" test. Why a bone density test you all ask---well, (sigh) dealing here with this humongously enlarged Postrate---and the doctor having done a number of biopsies has found no real evidence of cancer, but-------and having discussed the pros and cons at some length with him---have agreed that I should go about about "shrinking " the monster, so that eventually, SHOULD surgery be required it will be a viable option----so I have begun taking the necessary drugs to "shrink" the big guy down----yes Virginia this has to do with chemotherapy and I now am at risk of not having sufficient calcium in my body over the duration of the treatment (we are talking 6-18 monthes, one pill a day).
However to monitor things its necessary to establish a bone density level---so thus the need for tomorrows test. Its no big deal---besides I have to leave the house anyway if for no other reason than to complete the grocery shopping I failed to do early today----(not to mention refurbish my beer supply ),which I noticed a moment ago , as I took the last cold brewski in captivity for myself, that we are now totally out of. (I really DO have to find better planning skills). Have no fear sportfans, my appointment tomorrow is late in the afternoon, and I plan on making another post in the morning---and if I get back from the bone testing grounds early enough an afternoon posting as well? (lol)

"HELLO, Paris Hilton Calling, will you accept the Charges?"

This is funny, as first off, I can't imagine Paris even giving a thought to reversing charges---that would be---??---well its so-o anti-Paris Hilton?? Like it wobbles the mind---it would be so not like her. Frankly I think she is one smart lady, or she is smart enough to let her handlers work for her benefit.
Madonna started this kinda promotion, ---it all comes under the title, "I don't care what THEY are saying---just as long as they are talking about me school?". What in advertising we label as ---"as word of mouth advertising"---what is sometimes mentioned in "Hollywood-ese"---"what have ya done Lately to get your name in the news"?.
What appalls me is---how those that would run for the highest office in the land , turn themselves over to "handlers" to "promote" them. (and NO sportsfans I am not talking one or the other candidate for President of our Country here)---I have my likings, my preferences, just as YOU do---I am merely saying --please, PLEASE look past the hyper news presented by the big 7 news presenters, get the facts about each candidate---and VOTE----your vote DOES count.----unless you live in Florida or Michagan in which case according to the Liberals, (aka democrats) they only count 1/2---(what did ya do to get punished like that?)

It's A Neato Day

Its Sunday, the sun is shining, its gonna be warm but not unbearable hot---the kind of day our chamber of commerce would have you believe they were all like here in southern California. I have no chores that must be done to day, the larder is stocked with food, more importantly the beer supply is plentiful-----Netflix appears to have resolved their shipping snafu, and yesterday I received all my current movies----. It is going to be just one of those Neato days, where a guy can just drift along with whatever moves him at the time----One of those days where one can go out and plunk oneself down into a padded lounger, and maybe read, while sipping a cold drink (or in my case a cold brewski)----just listen to the birds chirping, and allow himself the luxury of a nap.-----(zzzzzzzzzz mmmmmm) N-E-A-T-O!!!!

Prime Time New Shows

I wait with a modicum of impatience for the NEW Fall TV schedule to get underway. I will watched the new shows as they present their premier episodes and then based on my reactions to seeing the first show will decide if the show is worth watching on a regular basis. Last season I liked the show that premiered then, "Eli Stone", about the Lawyer who had visions of George Michael's, I found the premise somewhat far fetched, but the well written scripts and good directing and acting make the program quite entertaining, and I look forward to its return,---even with all the commercial breaks every five minutes..
Its not a new show, but another one that I have grown to like, mainly for the sheer idiocy of it, and again the great writing of dialog and that's "The Big Bang Theory". I also look forward to the return of "NCIS" and "Brothers and Sisters".
One new show that is already being hyped to death, and whose title escapes me, has a guy running around in a big green plastic diaper-----I am pretty sure THAT show won't be on my must see list---and its being hyped so heavy I can only assume its a weak show. If it were any good it wouldn't have to be hyped so heavy. The new fall schedule will at least offer us all some modicum of entertainment and allow us to ignore the tedium of the presidential race, which has been going on, and on and on------

Just a Typical Tuesday (what a relief)

Man , just got back to the castle here, been out and about. I had to run up to the hospital and see my Doctor for a checkup (he insists on seeing me every six months whether I need to be seen or not---hmo's use their docs for shills.) We suffered through the stripping and wearing of a hospital gown. The doctor read my history back to me, as if I was a child and had forgotten, on the other hand maybe it fascinated him with its blandness. Long story short, (ya, yaaa, I know to long now already), he couldn't find anything to get excited over, but I did allow him to talk me into taking the vacination shot for "Shingles", and another for "Pneumonia", I keep telling him these vacinations aren't working, I never get Pneumonia, never get the flue etc---he kinda just glares at me and grunts (the man has no sense of humor---I suspect he is afraid I will outlive him, just for spite). I am scheduled to return on the 'morrow" to submit to blood testing, to verify I am not enemic, got acceptable chlorestol and am otherwise sane.
Having done the Hospital checkup routine, I now had to do the shopping for the LP's groceries required this week. I went to our local Ralphs, where I am now familiar with the new layout---and was in and out with only one "Isle double back", and it was deliberate, I "added" to his list to get "Crystal Geyser" water---we were out, but he didn't know it or he would have put it on his list (my bad, I forget to tell him earlier---but oh man does he go ballistic when he assumes there is somethng in the pantry and there isn't cause I failed to tell him it was the last unit when we used it------(sigh) The LP has a steel trap mind---for example he knows what is stored in the garage, from 18years back, knows it is IN the garage, and WHERE in the garage it is---so far he hasn't hit me for letting the pantry run out---but oohh do I get severly tongue lashed if I fail to alert him we are out of something. ---on the other hand he pats me on the head and I earn an "attaboy", if I can report we have that in stock---but you all know how tghat works , get just one "awe shit, and that costs ya 10 "attaboys"-----I can't remember the last time I had a surplus of "attaboys"---(sigh). (For those not familiar with things---The LP weights about 90#, is on oxygen 24/7, has a steel trap mind, and I am his arms, legs and gopher---and I love it.
So I mad it back to the "Castle" with a good medical report (yaaaay), got all the groceries, and now the sun is slowing sinking in the west. Ohh we also got a new movie in the mail from Netflix---so we won't have to pretend to be content with the reality crap .--its just another typical Tuesday----and thats good.

Help Wanted

I want to replicate my list of blog friends, some I have been able to do from picking up on old comments, going to profiles listed, and then to the blogs referenced, but not everybody lists their blogs, or they have changed them and not updated their profiles, or (sob) have blocked their profiles from being viewed. S-O-O-O gonna need some help from ya if I am to get ya back on my blogger list on my site-----course if ya DON'T want to be linked or associated to my page----well guess ya can just ignore this plea for help. This being a weekend, am aware that I most likely won't get much of a response til the first of the week, but anyway wanted to let ya all know I aint to proud to accept help.
