THERES STILL TIME ----but its getting short
Did you wake up this morning feeling LUCKY? Did ya find a penny laying on the ground face up?---or maybe find one of those elusive 4-leaf clovers?----or maybe you just figure what the hell , its free so why not go for it----well then trot on down to Bonnie's blog , "Name That Witch" page, and help her name her Witch. Her contest is open thru Oct.26----and the winner gets one hell of nice basket of goodies--, and ooh ya, you can make as many entries as you wish (one name suggestion per comment please). Course I doubt if you can beat MY entry, (you'll have to read back through all the comments to find mine) anyway while your figuring out a good name, you can listen to her Halloween music on her blog-----(lol).

Lost In GoogleLand
Hi dear readers, this being Saturday, and most bloggers are off dealing with their real lives, I kinda got bored and opted to investigate the newest feature of blogger.com which allows one to see how many readers are "following" ones blog. Not only see how many but Identify who they are---PHEENOMENAL!!.
Further inspection of this new feature, identified who was following my blog, and Out of gratefulness I of course added their blogs to my "blogs that I am following list". My curiosity being what it is---I determined that every blog that I had listed automatically is linked in my Google reader---and voila, by clicking on their blog title in Google reader I could review their postings , even move to their blog page and make comments. This is a fabulous---no make that a PHEENOMENAL tool. Now I can manage all my favorite blogs, as well as my other favorite sites which I have added to my Google reader, all on the same page!!
I have spent the better part of the last hour and a half totally involved in my self created Google Universe----and I highly recommend it to all my readers.

LIKE ANIMALS---GOT A THING FOR CUSTOM JEWELRY??
One of my on line blogger friends is up to her eyebrows drumming up money to support the Humane Society. She and her husband have set a personal goal of raising $500 for this organization. To raise monies she is putting up for auction a beautiful customized necklace and ear rings for auction. So if you wanna do something good to help the Animals, and maybe pick up a nice piece of jewelry, check out her page. "Kalo's World" (and should ya mention my name I would appreciate it, but then if ya don't that's okay too(lol).)

"Joyce is Coming!"
This is worthy of posting. A vibrant fellow senior citizen is coming to Southern California on the ever popular visiting offspring /vacationing gambit. Okay that in and of itself is not earth-shattering news.---like hello, all families have generational family visits.
I don't quite know how to describe the event---its not just an east coast versus west coast thing---it's not a "mom-always-liked-you-best" struggle either---(well maybe?---hmmm nah!!), guess in the bigger scope of things all of the above is off the scale---"JOYCE" is coming here---HERE!!-----I am awed, and yet in my awe I realize the Sun still comes up in the East---but how can that be? TOMORROW, TOMORROW , Tomorrow is only a day a way!!)
(enjoy your visit to Shogun Mtn Joyce---glad to have ya out here)

Help Wanted
I want to replicate my list of blog friends, some I have been able to do from picking up on old comments, going to profiles listed, and then to the blogs referenced, but not everybody lists their blogs, or they have changed them and not updated their profiles, or (sob) have blocked their profiles from being viewed. S-O-O-O gonna need some help from ya if I am to get ya back on my blogger list on my site-----course if ya DON'T want to be linked or associated to my page----well guess ya can just ignore this plea for help. This being a weekend, am aware that I most likely won't get much of a response til the first of the week, but anyway wanted to let ya all know I aint to proud to accept help.
Day 1 of the New Era
It will take some time, to get the Phoenix's nest properly feathered . As you can see I have got a nice new button/pic posted on the right , well thats me---"PROUD OLD DUDE BLOGGER". I personally want to say thanks to Sue, author of the Blog "Sue's Stuff", who upon hearing of my "accident" was quick to make this available to me. Thanks Sue, it looks just SWELL. Like we say back in the old country---"Thank ye, thank ye kindlly."

If There Is A Will------
Our good buddy Wayne John, last week posted his on going series of lessons on how to make good use of the New Blogger. Com blogging platform. Specifically he made note of how in the blogger's personal profile section, one could input audio clips. Putting Audio on my page sounded kinda challenging to me and , like a dog with a new bone, spent a goodly number of hours searching the net looking for not just free music, but music I thought reflected my personality well (yeahhh we ALL have this image of ourselves we HOPE those looking at us see---and almost always we are wrong, but I digress)
I finally came to the conclusion that I have a very complex personality and as such there is no one genre of music that truly represents me, no not even the German Octoberfest beer hall songs cover it----but I finally found a small free sample of music which would could be used to complete the challenge and allow me to post some audio onto my blog profile.----and I ran into a wall.
Having invested some number of hours finding and sifting through midi music---I now found I didn't know how to download it to my computer-----well I approached this dilemma with my standard under my breath muttering------(there has got to be a way, there has got to be a way-----), and the old dude started clicking buttons on the music sites, buttons on the computer here and sure enough a couple hours later----I had discovered how to download a midi music file to my computer-----should now be easy to upload it to my blog profile page right?----wrong again!!
Editing my profile I dutifully follow Wayne's clear, concise instructions and sure enough I find myself looking at the empty audio clip file box----waiting for it to be filled with the URL address of the music I wish to put in.------I need to find the URL of the music I wish to put in. I go into my computer, and open the downloaded file of music, but---well damn I get no URL address to copy and use to paste in my blog profile box.-----very frustrating, I have the music file, can even play it, but no URL. Much frustration, I go back to my original source of the music, and I come up with an URL, I copy it direct from the site----bring up my blog profile, and paste it in the box---then preview my profile page and -----find that all I have done is put in a link to a website that then requires YOU to download the file and click on play to hear it-----this is not right. I delete all the stuff from my profile audio clip area----open a beer and contacted Wayne requesting assistance in figuring out where I was screwing up. Something I should have done hours earlier.
To make a long story shorter---suffice it to say, like Pictures, Audio Clips have to be stored on a server , and once there, THEN one can obtain a URL------I'm to cheap to put out a monthly fee for this service---but for a short time I am pleased to report I do have music in my profile Audio clip-----for those that wish to hear it, you have but to click on my complete profile link on the right ---scroll down to the Audio Clip and click on it------. The good thing about all of the above is the old dude here NOW knows how to search the net for music and how to download it to his files-----but I'm to cheap to host it on servers and share my taste in music with the rest of the world. I will be deleting my audio clip from my profile in a few days-------.

Senior Blogger and PROUD of IT
CHECK IT OUT GUYS---THE BIG RED BADGE IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF MY PAGE-----EEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWW!!!!! I would love to say I got that badge all on my own, but the truth must be told---had a lot of help from Rose DesRochers, who seeing my frustration trying to download from another blog site unsuccessfully, volunteered to email me the right pic----and well ---shoot, ya did good lil missy---and right thankful to ya mame. Rose is righteously smart about blogging things -----and has saved this old dudes bacon a number of times.
Old Dude Strikes AGain (Get Shorty)
When in doubt---push a Meme out----(you can quote the old dude's maxim) , its nothing fancy, pretty straight forward----here ya go .
OLD DUDE STRIKES AGAIN MEME
1) What is your favorite quotable line from a Movie.
2) Who is the most famous person you have spoken to?
3) How many bags/boxes of Potato Chips are consumed at your place in a month?
4) Who is your all time favorite Cartoon Character?
5) What foreign food Dish do you prepare from scratch and Serve?
6) What is your favorite section of the Supermarket?
7) What was your high school teams mascot and what were the school's colors?
Needless to say, to play the game , one has to A) answer the above questions in a blog posting, B) Identify the (5) who you are going to tag, and C) acknowledge who TAGGED YOU.----and ooh yeahhh, have a nice day.
NOBODY tagged me---I created this sucker (heh, heh, heh)---and I AM TAGGING,
------Alexi, Dana, Mrmcrum, Joyce-----and that fancy toed dude Wayne.

July/13---Blog Post #38
Hello dear readers, I guess maybe I should first apologize for the rather dreary title of this posting---but its kinda goes with the nature of the posting itself. Maybe I blog to much, that is to say I Post things to often. I'm reasonable certain most people read the current posting but don't bother to take the time to scroll back to earlier ones, mainly because they just don't have the time to do so---them people got real lives and there is only so many hours in the day. Still, I blog and post, and post and post. You can scroll down my page and see my archive numbers since I started in April----.
THIS post is posting number 38 for the month of July---(today is July 13th), so if ya do the math, you can see I post a bit more than twice a day-----anyway , last month (The Month of June) I posted 71 entries for the month---which was six more than the month before that---S-O-O-O_O-, we are going for a personal record here in July---we just celebrated the 4th of July and so the number 76 comes to mind----"the Spirit of 76"----OHH yaaaaaa.
Relax readers, it would be nice if ya read every single one of my inputs and commented, but I know that's not fair of me to expect, and I promise not to re-write my will if you don't. (that last remark was to those family members who do read my blog---there actually are family members who don't---(sigh)---anyway you have been given a heads up as to what the rest of the month you can expect from the old dude---my problem is can I come up with interesting posts, or am I gonna get kinda truly boring-----LOL---pretty sure I got readers who won't let me get away with that, at least not without spunky input---got this one reader with tats on his toes---lives out in the old Fontana, Rialto, Colton, area--------(how ya doing Wayne?) ----KNOW he won't take crap for input-----. Now that I think about it neither will these guys, Rose, Dana, Demeur--- Guess having warned ya, can now go about figuring out what I am gonna do for at least 38 MORE posts between now and July 31-------(yah awl comeback now ya heah?)

Canaday Day, 4th of July---and now Bastille Day.
Its interesting to note the free World democracies have their National Holidays in close proximity. Canada Day on July 1, the United States, July 4, and our good friends across the ocean France with Bastille day on July 14th. A new friend was kind enough to visit my dumb blog, and lay a nice compliment on me ---and as it turns out, she is French, its seems my list of blogger friends are coming from any number of countries---Canada, the USA of course, and now France----in any case, always nice to meet and make new friends---and the big question in MY mind is---what holiday in England best equates to being THE English National Holiday?---(yes I know I am flaunting my ignorance---of other countries History---what can I say I was educated in California by Union Teachers (oooh that's gonna get me letters)-----

The Tag From Dana---
The name of this Meme is "Seven Personal Things Nobody knows about You". I was sneak attacked by Dana and got tagged----but you all KNOW how she gets when she fails to take her meds----but that's another story---anyway to play the game and pass it on----here are seven things about myself you most likely didn't know or weren't sure about-----
1) I attended no less than three, (3) different High schools, in two different States---no not an Army brat here----my Father worked in the Steel Industry, and was an expert in the production of Seamless Tubing---so as he changed jobs, moving up promotion wise, I the kid moved from city to city----(I graduated from Pueblo, Central High school, class of 1955---"GO WILDCATS")
2) My favorite veggie is Cauliflower with cheese sauce, but guess most everyone knows that now, so my second best favorite veggie is Zucchini with a moderately spicy tomato sauce. (remind some time when I have had a couple beers to tell ya about my first introduction to Zucchini, and the resulting major physical confrontation with my Father)
3) I am a avid reader of books, primarily fiction, mysteries, sci-fiction, etc. anyway I took a speed reading course, and read about 2,000 words a minute with 95-100 percent comprehension----well a lot slower when dealing with mathematical equations and columns of numbers. As such, I go through a couple novels a week.
4) I volunteered and enlisted in the Army for a three year hitch. I reached the rank of E-5, Tech Specialist (Hawk Missile internal guidance repairmen), for those not familiar with military rank, that equates to being paid the same as a Buck Sargent (three stripes). At the time I left the service my pay was a grand total of $150/mo---that was April 1963.
5) My father was of the school of thought I should learn to drive and be taught properly so he refused to teach me, insisting I should take driver training at school----don't know how it is in schools today, but when I went, only the "dumb" took driver training---and I wasn't about to mingle with that crowd---end result----I didn't learn to drive a vehicle til I was 23, my driver training professionally taught me by an army Sargent, my first vehicle a 5 1/2 ton, extra long wheelbase Truck----by the time the army got done I could drive every vehicle in my unit trucks, vans, jeep's 3/4 trucks----I was the only one in my unit that never got a ticket in the three years I was in (just never got caught that's why)----remind me sometime to tell ya about the morning I did a 360 degree skid on the road to the ammo dump with 8 guys in the back of the truck).
6) One of the things I learned as a freshmen in college, from my basic Psychology 101 class, and not to many people know this about me. One of the things taught was the effect of people who are color blind----lo and behold---I found out I was "Red/Green" color blind. Plays merry hell with me in picking out brown vs green colors when buying clothes----as such I mostly wear, greys, blues, blacks and stay away from browns and greens---or I let others pick out those colors for me.
------and now finally , (drum roll please----) we come to number 7) I have had the personal pleasure of shaking hands with both Dr. Werner Von Braun , whose team of rocket scientists help us build the rockets that took us to the moon, and Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren. (He was Governor of California at the time).
Now to complete this Meme properly I get to pass this Meme on ---and so letting my fingers slide through the old list-----hmmmmm, yes , I am tagging Wayne, Judi and my newest acquaintance Wondering Coyote. (Now stop nagging me about the meme Dana.)

What Constitutes a Proper Tagging?
Attention all Bloggers, an important matter has come up which I feel the entire blogosphere should pay attention to----sloppy tagging!!! Like all good games there are rules, as without rules all ya got is a drunken mob---not to say sometimes a drunken mob can be kinda intertaining, but I digress, the subject here is what constitutes a proper, legitimate tagging---SPECIFICALLY as it applies to passing on of a Meme----.
Correct me if I am wrong, but---my understanding of how the game is played, says first off, the Person who is it---must first describe the individual who tagged them, secondly describe what the Meme (aka puzzle) is , and what rules apply to solving it., thirdly , the Person who has been tagged must then present they're solution to the puzzle (observing the puzzle rules), and finally only then can the person who had been tagged now identify who they are tagging.
Now having said all the above, the question is----Has Dana laid a legitimate tag on me yes or no. Is it legal to tag someone via comments to a post , and is it kosher to tell the person that has been tagged in this weird fashion that to fully understand the puzzle they have to go read the taggers posted blog for instructions-------?? this doesn't seem proper to me at all? Please check out 1) the comments made to my POST titled , "Library, Yes or NO" , and then 2) Dana's blog for the so called meme ----and let me know, have I been properly tagged??

The Truth Will Set You Free---but tell it wrong you could end up in jail.
I was bored to the ---well lets just say I was bored, my buds were not blogging, couldn't find an interesting blog, so like all bored people, delved into some of my friends blogs in more depth, to get a better understanding of what makes em tick, what interests them, and otherwise see what was what. ------ and I learned something, I also got a good laugh, and better yet I didn't "cheat" and google it, so THERE!
So, IF you wanna learn what I learned---and IF you want a laugh, just click the link---> "X" , and guess I would be amiss if I didn't give credit where credit is do---(Don't look Wayne) thanks to him, we are now all the wiser for his research----another piece of trivia that will be hard to put into polite cocktail conversation-----like hello? can't remember the last cocktail party I got invited to----but now I am loaded and ready for conversational gambits. (thanks Wayne)

Okayyy, Lets Get This Show On The Road
I am pleased to report that the weather people have told us to expect a cooling trend that will take the temps down to the 90's, for a few days, but warming once again come the weekend. (Don't ya just hate it when you find yourself breaking into a sweat right in the middle of say doing your weekly Fluff N Fold---makes a guy ask himself why he bothered in the first place).
I have started my third Anne Perry novel and my books are due back at the Library on the 27th. At which time I will endeavor to leap into the works of the Mystery/Thriller author, James Patterson, that was recommended by my friend Joyce . Joyce is new to blogging, and learning fast how to make her blog interesting and fun reading. If ya lay a comment on her blog, can almost guarantee you all will get a reply on your own---that's the kind of Lady she is.
I will be going out later today to the store---had that wonderful experience of flipping on the overhead lights in the bath this morning and getting the old bright flash as the recessed flood light went to bulb heaven---showering in the dark is not my idea of a pleasant interlude---on the other hand, by the time I finished a certain sleazy sense of -----well never mind all that.
It was brought to my attention that George Carlin died, he was two weeks younger than myself---that's kinda depressing. Wayne John paid him a nice tribute and posted a couple Vids of George's stuff, ya might want to see. (you might not want the kids around however when ya do).
I also gotta mention Missy posted one hell of interesting Italian recipe, complete with pictures on her blog----makes one good meal that's for damn sure. (who knew there was more than one kind of parsley?)

Thanks Waynejohn
I used that title as I know he uses Google alerts and will get a hot ping---Wayne John IS the beginner Blogger's friend, ---and not to be confused with the Soup Nazi, as portrayed on Seinfield. A good example being his post titled "Google Alerts", its heartfelt, he DOES understand the thinking of us newbies at blogging. I just wanted to post a blog and alert
All that read my blog of Wayne's helpfulness---not ALL young'uns are bad. Its my opinion ya just might wanna subscribe to this boys output, ---Wayne's that is, not mine .

I Got Bored ------
It was a tuesday, minding my own business, and wham, the old "YOU GOT MAIL" announcement rings in my ear. (oh joy, oh happiness, oh shoot!!)---naturally I of course HAD to read it---I can leave phones ringing, but just gotta read mail---its one of my failings. Twas from my second oldest Nephews wife---Judi. She wished to alert me to her lastest passion ---BLOGGING!!
I of course had to check her blog site, and see just what all here excitement was about and oh my, the lady obviously loves to chatter-----. Unfortunately, her enthusiasm so permeated her blog, I found myself growing some one more green eyed than I normally am-----and the curiousity and yes the envy festered for acouple days, and okay so now here I am with my own blog site----can't let the younguns get to far ahead of us old folks, just far enough ahead if they fall in a hole, we know where not to step----.
Anyhoo---thanks for turning me on to blogging Judi------
