The Celebration of Labor Day officially ends Summer, it also signifying back to school for children. Technically I suppose one can say per the Calendar that Summer continues til Sept 2oth, and the Fall Season officially begins, but----I think most all of us say it ends the day after Labor day, which is---taaaaa-daaaaaaaah TODAY.
For me its my 72nd Summer , and as I sit here creating this post, I am mentally comparing it with previous summers, and have come to the conclusion on a Scale of 1 to 5, (5 being "Most Excellent", and 1 being "Dismal", that the summer of 2008 would rate a 3.25. A rating that would rank it just slightly above average. This summer has been enjoyable enough. Some of the High points would have to be, my visit to the Reagan Presidential Library with other members of my family, excursions to visit my Nephew and Nieces homes in Redlands, Irvine and Fallbrook (aka Shogun Mtn). Closer to home, I have gone out to eat at some of the local restaurants with friends and again visiting family. Places like "Barones" (italian), "Casa Verde" (Mexican), "Ye Old English Pub" (English)and of course "The Sportsman Lodge" (American West).
This summer as also had its bummer periods, The LP's disintegrating health, an expensive plumbing repair, and learning of my own Health problem (BPH & complications thereof).
Overall it has been a pleasant enough season, the weather has been warm and nice, perhaps a bit to warm, but not complaining----so I think all in all yes I will rate my summer a 3.25.
